Root Canal

Root Canal
Have you been told by an endodontist that you need to undergo a root canal treatment? Don't worry, many people have. In fact, our Gentle Care Dentistry of Tampa office alone has performed numerous root canals saving many teeth. Typically, you get a root canal procedure done to repair and save a tooth that is badly infected or damaged.

No matter what you may have heard about modern endodontic treatment, it is pretty much the same as having a routine filling, and normally the procedure only takes one or two visits to complete. This does depend on your personal circumstances and condition of your tooth, however. Either way, you can expect a pain-free and comfortable experience while you are having the procedure done and after your visit.

What to Expect with your Root Canal
A deep infection is typically what causes you to need a root canal or if you have a big cavity that damages the root of your tooth. Dr. Thomas J. Frankfurth, D.D.S., F.A.G.D. performs the procedure by:
  • Numbing your tooth and creating a route to the root.
  • Removing the inflamed or infected tissue.
  • Filling the canal with a permanent agent called gutta-percha.
  • Rebuilding your tooth and place a temporary crown or filling on it while you wait for your permanent fixture.
  • Cementing your crown.
To continue eating what you want, reduce your dental work visits and maintain that healthy, beautiful smile, endodontic treatment can help. Give our New Tampa, FL office a call at 813- 973-4300 to set up your appointment today. When your teeth are cared for properly with root canals, other dental restorations, and hygiene visits, they can last a lifetime.
